‘The Girl on the Train’ by Paula Hawkins

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

A few days away in a beach chalet on the north Cornish coast called for a ‘holiday read’. Paula Hawkins’ ‘The Girl on the Train’ caught my attention as I was planning on seeing the film at our local arts centre on my return and, wherever possible, I prefer to read books before seeing any film or TV adaptations as I find spoils my ability to imagine the characters for myself.
I thoroughly enjoyed this page turner and the opportunity to read it over a short period meant I was able to keep track of the different narratives and timeframes the novel uses as a device and I am curious to see how, and indeed if, these will be translated into the film. The recent realisation though that the story has been relocated to the US has made me wonder if in fact I want to see it all…
